Executive Summary

Matrixx Initiatives: Six-product Concentrated Cough Mist cough supressant line featuring dextromethorphan in spray bottles debuted at the National Association of Chain Drugstores Marketplace in San Diego June 21-24. The four adult products include cool cherry-flavored "Plus D" containing phenylephrine and "Nite" with 10% alcohol for sleep, as well as two single-active offerings in cool cherry and honey lemon. Two SKUs for children include the single-active and Plus D, both in cool cherry. All six products are offered in a 0.75 oz. metered spray bottle and will carry an SRP of $7.99 when they launch in early fall at food, drug and mass outlets. The spray bottle offers a novel drug delivery method in a dye-free, no-stain form allowing consumers to avoid the measuring, spilling and mess associated with syrups, Matrixx says. National TV ads are slated to run along with Zicam brand ads during the 2004 cough/cold season.
