Trade group fact sheet explaining health, financial benefits of daily multivitamin use sent to more than 500 Congressional offices on May 12. 1Multivitamin fact sheet represents first in a series of such letters that will be sent monthly to Hill staffers; next fact sheet will feature calcium supplements. CRN has initiated campaign to educate Congress on supplements and to counter negative image of industry conveyed by mass media. Trade group aims to remind Congress members and their staff that supplement industry can be regulated adequately under DSHEA and contributes many products that are beneficial to public health. Each fact sheet will carry the slogan: "DSHEA: It makes sense...Let's make it work"...

Large print ads touting the benefits of supplements will appear in Roll Call, The Hill to complement CRN's mail, email campaign aimed at congressional members and staffers, the trade group announces June 23. Ads and fact sheets carry tagline "DSHEA: It Makes Sense...Let's Make It Work" (1"The Tan Sheet" May 19, 2003, In Brief). Black and white ads will run nine times between June and September, CRN notes. Monthly color ads sent by mail will feature information on ginkgo, antioxidants, fatty acids, other supplements.
