Executive Summary

Nature's Way Ginkgold is one of only three ginkgo biloba supplements to pass online firm's test, ConsumerLab says April 21. Ten supplements were analyzed for levels of bilobalides, ginkgolides, overall terpene lactone levels and flavonol glycones based on "claimed amount of Ginkgo biloba leaf extract." ConsumerLab found seven of the products "lack[ed] adequate levels of one or more important compounds expected of clinically effective ginkgo." Similar testing conducted in 1999 found 75% of products tested met standards, compared with 22% in current review.
