Executive Summary
Ibuprofen found to be "considerably" more effective at reducing fever than acetaminophen, according to meta-analysis presented Aug. 18 during 10th World Congress on Pain in San Diego. D. Perrott, Sydney Children's Hospital, et al., report that nine fever studies involving 567 pediatric patients found single modal doses of 10 mg/kg ibuprofen reduced temperature more than the same dose of acetaminophen at two, four, six hours after treatment. To assess pain relief, researchers analyzed three trials with 276 patients and found "no significant differences between the two drugs for minor and major harm."
