FDA authorizes nutrient content claims for substance, allowing food, supplement labels to "characterize the level of choline," agency announces in notice expected to be published in Federal Register the week of Sept. 10. Acceptable claims include: "Good source of choline," "Contains choline," "Rich in choline," "Excellent source of choline" and "High in choline," along with statement such as: "Contains [X mg] choline per serving, which is [X%] of the Daily Value for choline (550 mg)." Ruling results from amended nutrient content notification submitted under FDAMA by Central Soya, which cited National Academy of Sciences' Dietary Reference Intakes standard for choline as "an authoritative statement that identifies the choline level to which the claims refer"
