Executive Summary
Low-level supplementation with beta carotene or lycopene is not beneficial or detrimental to cell-mediated immunity in healthy, elderly individuals, B.M. Corridan, University College, Cork, Ireland, et al., report in August issue of European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. In a double-blind trial, 58 subjects over age 65 were randomized to receive 8.2 mg beta carotene, 13.3 mg lycopene or placebo daily for 12 weeks
