Executive Summary
Consumer Health division forms joint venture with household products company Kao to introduce OTC brands in Japan. The Novartis Kao portfolio will include new products developed for the Japanese market, international brands suitable for Japan and pharmaceuticals appropriate for switching from Rx status. In January 2001, the Tokyo-based firm will launch an eyecare product for the relief of eyestrain symptoms. Other products will target fatigue, muscle aches and back pain.
