Executive Summary
Natural medicines and supplements maker acquires Zand and Herbs for Kids dietary supplement brands under a manufacturing partnership with McZand Corp. effective May 12. Boulder, Colo.-based McZand joins Botanical Labs' consumer products division, and McZand founder Janet Zand will oversee Zand product development and serve as the brand's spokeswoman. Botanical Labs plans to keep one-third of McZand's 15 employees and will manufacture the McZand lines at Botanical's Ferndale, Wash. headquarters. The manufacturer expects to reach almost $25 mil. in total sales in 2001, with approximately $8 mil. coming from the McZand brands, and is considering a SKU-reduction program for McZand lines. Zand and Herbs for Kids currently boast about 150 and 40 SKUs, respectively
