Nine out of 10 herbal users surveyed use the products without discussing it with their physician or pharmacist, Jeannie Bennett and Carolyn Brown, PhD, University of Texas at Austin, report in the May/June issue of the Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association. Taken with the fact herbals are being used in place of or with Rx and OTC drugs, the researchers believe this is a potentially harmful situation.
