FDA Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications Acting Director Tom Abrams appointed permanent director of the division, succeeding Norm Drezin, who retired Jan. 31 to join the contract research company Pharmanet as a senior consultant. Abrams joined FDA in 1993 as a regulatory review officer for DDMAC, becoming branch chief in 1995. He was named acting deputy director of the division last summer
