Executive Summary
Trials studying the ability of high-dose melatonin to improve the effectiveness of radiation therapy, ginseng's utility in reducing fatigue among lung cancer radiation therapy patients and beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate's ability to increase muscle mass and quality of life in cancer patients were discussed by NIH's Cancer Advisory Panel for Complementary & Alternative Medicine at a meeting in Bethesda, Md. Dec. 13. NCI has to approve the studies before recruitment can begin; a decision is expected soon. Pharmaton's Ginsana likely will be used in the ginseng study
