Executive Summary
FDA proposes survey of food manufacturing facilities about their Year 2000 readiness. In an Oct. 27 Federal Register notice, the agency is seeking emergency OMB processing of its request for information from manufacturers about whether they have tested, verified and certified their systems and have contingency plans. The agency would use the information for possible follow-up inspections if potentially unsafe food manufacturing conditions are indicated, and in the preparation of industry and consumer directed materials addressing Y2K concerns
