GNC/Rite Aid Highlighting PharmAssure Joint Formula In TV Ad

PharmAssure Joint Formula, one of the products developed under a GNC/Rite Aid joint venture, is being promoted through a television ad that began airing Oct. 11 on network, cable and spot TV. Available only in Rite Aid and GNC stores and online at drugstore.com, the PharmAssure dietary supplement brand is debuting now. The line currently encompasses 38 products.

The acquisition of General Nutrition Companies by the Dutch conglomerate Royal Numico will give the Pittsburgh-based supplement retailer an extensive R&D foundation on which to develop original nutritional products. The agreement was announced July 5.

The products will deliver calcium for maintaining bone mass and thus preventing osteoporosis "in ways that consumers should find very appealing, including tablets, powders and sports bars," GNC said. The retailer is positioning the CCM products as "super calcium" supplements.
