Treatment claims for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and sports injuries cause Phillips Gulf's Arth-Rx dietary supplement to be designated a new drug, FDA states in an Aug. 6 warning letter to the firm. Arth-Rx was the subject of a Class III (not likely to cause adverse health consequences) recall in February 1998 (1"The Tan Sheet" March 2, 1998, p. 14)
