GNC/Rite Aid Alliance Moving "Ahead Of Schedule"

"All aspects" of GNC's strategic alliance with the drug chain Rite Aid are either "on track or ahead of schedule," the specialty retailer said May 17. GNC announced the alliance in January and has opened 16 stores-within-stores so far ("The Tan Sheet" Jan. 11, p. 10). The PharmAssure line of nutritional supplements GNC is developing with Rite Aid will launch early in the third quarter. Publicis, New York City, has been hired to create print, radio and TV spots for the line.
