Executive Summary
Thomas Ryan named chairman, effective April 14. Ryan, who will retain the title of CEO, will succeed Stanley Goldstein as head of the board. Goldstein, a co-founder of the chain, is retiring but will remain on the board. Charles Conaway is taking on Ryan's former role as president and will become chief operating officer; he formerly was CVS exec VP and chief financial officer. Ryan joined CVS as a pharmacist in 1975. Conaway, who came to CVS in 1992 as senior VP-pharmacy, previously was with Reliable Drug Stores, which he co-founded in 1989
