Executive Summary
Texas Attorney General's office said to be preparing lawsuits against manufacturers and distributors of dietary supplements containing gamma-butyrolactone, which can convert to gamma-hydroxybutyrate, an unapproved substance known as a "date rape" drug. Texas had sent out an advisory regarding the product several weeks ago, as did other states including California, Colorado and Florida. Through a recent "stop sale" order, Florida has obtained 500-600 bottles of GBL-containing products. The substance has been designated Class 2 in Florida since November, making it a felony to sell or possess it in the state. Florida has just issued another warning to stores informing them they must destroy all GBL-containing products
