Gum Tech International is manufacturing a gum form of the Acutrim appetite suppressant under an agreement with Heritage Consumer Products, the Phoenix-based firm announces Dec. 1. Shipping now, the gum includes the same active ingredient - phenylpropanolamine - as the original OTC product, as well as "natural dieting supplements" Garcinia cambogia, chromium polynicotinate and vitamin B-12. Brookfield, Conn.-based Heritage acquired the Acutrim brand from Novartis in 1997 ("The Tan Sheet" Sept. 1, 1997, p. 7)
