Executive Summary
ADM to manufacture tocotrienol, a form of vitamin E, for supply to the dietary supplement industry starting in 1999 after pilot production is established. The Decatur, Ill.-based company is refining tocotrienol from palm oil. A tocotrienol complex is found in Bionutrics' evolvE product, promoted for healthy cholesterol; Novartis has shown an interest in the product ("The Tan Sheet" March 2, In Brief). The tocotrienol in evolvE is refined from rice bran oil. ADM also began selling soy-based isoflavones to the supplement market in February after pilot production began in November 1997
