Executive Summary
Comment period reopened until Oct. 8 on interim final rules published June 22 prohibiting the use of nine health claims proposed by Weider Nutrition International for dietary supplements ("The Tan Sheet" June 29, pp.1-9). FDA determined the Weider claims either are not appropriately based on authoritative statements from scientific bodies or do not meet the specifications of new legislation.
