"Consumers deserve scientifically based information in order to make appropriate and safe choices regarding dietary supplements," ADA says, adding "health care professionals need accessible and balanced information about dietary supplements." The group "urges FDA to work with the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements and other NIH entities as appropriate, the supplement industry, and organizations like ADA, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society to develop an effective communication strategy."
