Executive Summary
HEALTH CLAIMS INTERIM RULES PUBLIC COMMENT REQUESTED by Sept. 8; however, the nine interim final rules published by FDA June 22 are effective immediately. The rules prohibit use of nine health claims proposed by Weider Nutrition International for several vitamin and supplement ingredients. FDA is requesting comment on the rules because they represent the first agency decisions regarding the use of health claims under recently enacted provisions of the FDA Modernization Act.
