SmithKline Beecham's nicotine replacement patch is top-selling new product in food, drug and mass merchandise outlets in 1997, Chicago-based Information Resources, Inc. reports in its "New Product Pacesetters" 1998 report. The leading OTC patch recorded sales of $243 mil. in 1997, the report states. In a February teleconference with securities analysts, SmithKline said the brand's U.S. sales were $214 mil.
