ELECTRONIC MEDIA: FTC SEEKS COMMENTS ON RULES AND GUIDES APPLICABILITY for alternative media such as e-mail, CD-ROMs and the Internet in a notice requesting public comment published in the May 6 Federal Register. The Federal Trade Commission is soliciting comment on a proposal to issue a policy statement on broadening its consumer protection rules and guides to apply to the newer forms of electronic media. One of the FTC guides that would be affected is the Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims, which give instructions to industry regarding the appropriate use of "green" claims.
