CALCIUM HIGH INTAKE AUGMENTS ESTROGEN THERAPY's EFFECT ON BONE MASS among postmenopausal women, Jeri Nieves, PhD, et al., Helen Hayes Hospital, West Haverstraw, N.Y., conclude in a meta-analysis of 31 published studies examining the effect of standard dose estrogen therapy on bone mass with or without calcium supplementation. The researchers also compare bone mass measurements in seven studies of subjects using calcitonin alone or in conjunction with elevated calcium intake. The study is published in the January issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
