Bayer: Thomas Laughlin to newly created position of senior VP, global new business. In his new post, he oversees creation and development of new business opportunities and licensing and acquisition for Bayer's global consumer care organization; he reports directly to Consumer Care Division President Gary Balkema. Laughlin, formerly Pharmacia & Upjohn president, consumer healthcare U.S., departed P&U in December 1996 to "pursue other business opportunities" ("The Tan Sheet" July 1, p. 6). Laughlin joined P&U as VP and general manager, consumer products in 1986. Laughlin was with Pfizer consumer products from 1977-1985 and Gillette from 1969-1977. He also served as chairman of the Nonprescription Drug Manufacturers Association from September 1995 to December 1996 ("The Tan Sheet" Sept. 2, 1996, p. 16).
