Executive Summary
SMITHKLINE ABTEI HERBALS "SUPPLEMENT FACT" BOXES appear to conform to FDA's dietary supplement regulations, published in the Sept. 23 Federal Register, which go into effect March 23, 1999 ("The Tan Sheet" Sept. 27, pp. 1-7). The four Abtei single ingredient herbals' "Supplement Facts" boxes list the serving size and dosage. In the boxes, each extract's source, either leaf, root or berry, and concentration are listed next to the product's standard or Latin name. The Latin binomial, which is not required in FDA's final regs, is included on each package panel. The percent daily value is represented by a Latin cross, defined as "Daily Value Not Established."
