Speaking at the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists annual meeting in Boston Nov. 2-6, the founder of the Morris Plains, N.J.-based pharmaceutical software/management firm SDM acknowledged that OTC drugs' potential role in managed care remains a "hot topic" among many in the OTC industry but warned against the pursuit of OTC reimbursement, reasoning that such a scenario often is financially detrimental to both the manufacturer and the managed care organization.
