Executive Summary
CFC INHALER BILLS INCLUSION IN S 830 SUPPORTED BY SEN. KENNEDY as Senate and House conferees prepare to consider the FDA reform legislation. The Massachusetts Democrat is understood to be willing to accept the inclusion of Sen. Tim Hutchinson's (R-Ark.) S 1299, and its companion legislation in the House, Rep. Mark Foley's (R-Fla.) HR 2627, which would prevent FDA from banning metered-dose inhalers for asthma that use chlorofluorocarbon propellants until acceptable alternative products are available. Both measures would include OTC CFC inhalers in their purview ("The Tan Sheet" Oct. 27, p. 12).
