This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

ASPIRIN FOR DIABETICS IN PRIMARY/SECONDARY CHD PREVENTION BACKED BY ADA in an Oct. 20 public statement. The American Diabetes Association recommends aspirin therapy for diabetic patients for primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease because the risk of diabetics dying from CHD is two to four times greater than the general population, the association notes. The statement was prepared by John Colwell, MD/PhD, Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, for the November issue of the ADA journal Diabetes Care. Colwell is a past president of the association.
