SUNDOWN OSTEO-BI-FLEX INITIAL SALES OF $5 MIL. were recorded in the fourth quarter ended Aug. 31. Shipped in mid-May, the patented glucosamine and chondroitin formula for osteoarthritis and "creaky joints" was supported by approximately $1.2 mil. in ad spending over the three-month period, with a total of $5 mil. earmarked for the product, Rexall Sundown said Oct. 15. The print and television campaign is scheduled to continue through the first quarter of 1998. Osteo-Bi-Flex is Rexall's first product to be supported by a national advertising campaign ("The Tan Sheet" May 5, p. 15).
