Campana Alerta: FTC grants final approval to consent order with Simi Valley, Calif.-based M.E.K. International settling charges that the company's Spanish language ads contained false claims for NutraTrim Bio-Active Cellulite Control Cream and NutraTrim Weight Loss Tablets. The order requires the company to have substantiation for claims made in its ads and requires user testimonials to "represent the typical experience of consumers" or include a "statement making clear that consumers should not expect similar results." Campana Alerta was initiated by FTC in July to halt false claims made in ads directed at Spanish-speaking consumers.
