This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

OTC DRUG INTERNET PROMOTIONS JURISDICTION will not be ceded by FDA, APCO Healthcare President Wayne Pines predicted at a June 23 session of the Drug Information Association annual meeting in Montreal, Quebec. Noting that "some companies favor declaring all Internet materials as `advertising' because advertising for over-the-counter drugs is regulated" by FTC, Pines said, "It is not likely that FDA will relinquish to the Federal Trade Commission jurisdiction over OTC drug promotion on the Internet."
