Fred Hassan, 51, most recently exec VP at AHP, was responsible for the firm's global pharmaceutical, nutritional and medical device businesses and R&D. As head of Wyeth-Ayerst, Hassan oversaw the integration of the Lederle pharmaceutical business into Wyeth following the acquisition of American Cyanamid by AHP in 1994. He also participated in an earlier merger integration process at AHP: Hassan joined Wyeth-Ayerst Labs in 1989 following the acquisition of A.H. Robins.
