VITAMIN E SUPPLEMENTATION ENHANCES T-CELL RESPONSE IN ELDERLY when administered at a level greater than that currently recommended, according to results of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, Simin Nikbin Meydani, PhD, Tufts University USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, et al., conclude in a report published in the May 7 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. The study was designed to see if long-term supplementation with vitamin E could enhance "clinically relevant measures of cell-mediated immunity" in healthy geriatric patients.
