GELATIN FROM BSE COUNTRIES SHOULD NOT BE EXEMPT FROM FDA POLICY restricting the use of bovinederived materials, FDA's Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies Advisory Committee concluded at its April 24 meeting. The committee voted 12-3 against the FDA proposal that "current scientific evidence [justifies] continuing to exempt gelatin from restrictions recommended by FDA for other bovine-derived materials from BSE countries."
