Executive Summary
MEDICAL FOODS REGULATION "ESSENTIALLY SOUND," ENTERAL NUTRITION COUNCIL maintains in April 1 comments on FDA's Nov. 29 advance notice of proposed rulemaking on enhancing the regulation of medical foods ("The Tan Sheet" Dec. 9, 1996, pp. 7-9). Medical foods are "already extensively regulated" under the FD&C Act, ENC states. "Substantial health benefits are already provided by medical foods, and any additional regulation of these products should be kept to a minimum so as not to discourage the development of new products," ENC suggests.
