AHPA PROPOSES FDA ADVISORY PANEL ON HERBALS TO SEN. JEFFORDS in an April 9 letter. The American Herbal Products Association suggested to Senate Labor & Human Resources Committee Chairman James Jeffords (R-Vt.) that "FDA create an expert advisory panel to advise the Division of OTC Drug Evaluation with respect to therapeutic claims" for traditional medicines or herbal therapies. Jeffords has been heading the FDA reform effort in the Senate.
