Executive Summary
VITAMIN E IN DIETARY FORM COMPLEMENTS SUPPLEMENTAL FORM in preventing lipid oxidation that can lead to cancer and other degenerative diseases, Stephan Christen, PhD, University of California at Berkeley, et al., conclude in a study in the April edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. "Because [alpha-tocopherol] alphaT supplementation suppresses [gamma-tocopherol] yT levels, a combination of the two tocopherols that better reflects the ratios found in our diet may be more useful as a supplement than the formulations of vitamin E currently available," the authors conclude.
