Executive Summary

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE CATEGORY I FOR SAFETY RECOMMENDED by the Dental Products Panel Plaque Subcommittee at its Dec. 16-17 meeting in Bethesda, Md. The subcommittee unanimously agreed that the ingredient, at concentrations of <=3%, is safe for use in oral care products. Hydrogen peroxide was deemed Category III for efficacy against plaque and gingivitis by the subcommittee.
