BETA CAROTENE TRIALS META-ANALYSIS PROTOCOL IN DEVELOPMENT and an initial collaborative analysis of the recent major beta carotene studies is planned for "sometime around the year 2000," Charles Hennekens, MD, Brigham and Women's Hospital, said in a letter published in the Oct. 3 New England Journal of Medicine. Directed by Hennekens, the "antioxidant trialists" group participating in the meta-analysis will examine beta carotene's effect upon all forms of endothelial cancer, with an emphasis on lung cancer.
