TITANIUM DIOXIDE, ZINC OXIDE PRESENT "NO RISK" FROM POTENTIAL PHOTOOXIDATION effects, American Health Foundation Director of Medical Science Gary Williams, MD, maintained at FDA's Sept. 19 public meeting on sunscreens. Addressing FDA concerns about the ingredients, Williams said, "The data reveal no risk from the potential photooxidative effects of titanium dioxide or zinc oxide and, in contrast, the benefit of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in sun protection is substantial."
