GENERAL NUTRITION OPENS 111 STORES IN THE U.S. DURING FIRST QUARTER (ended April 27), including 58 company-owned stores and 53 franchises. The Pittsburgh-based dietary supplement retailer noted that it is on track with its plan to open 475 stores in the U.S. in fiscal 1996. At the end of the quarter, the firm had a total 1,643 company-owned stores, 894 domestic franchises and 114 international franchises in 15 countries
