HERBALIFE FIRST-QUARTER NET SALES JUMP 20.2% to $146.2 mil. in the period ended March 31. Total retail sales, which include distributor allowances, were ahead 20.7% in the first three months to $276.6 mil. Net income rose 46.3% to $9.2 mil. The Los Angeles-based direct marketing company attributed the increases to higher sales in all regions and a reduction in operating expenses
