SENATOR-ELECT WYDEN WILL PURSUE FDA REFORM and other health-related issues from his new Senate seat. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) will fill the seat of retired Sen. Bob Packwood (R) following his victory in a Jan. 30 special election. Wyden's term runs through 1998. In his 15 years in the House, Wyden participated in numerous FDA and pharmaceutical industry debates as a critic of the industry. Most recently, in 1995, he introduced the first comprehensive FDA reform bill.
