Pharmacy drug class' success would hinge on pharmacist involvement -- GAO.

This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

THIRD CLASS OF DRUGS' SUCCESS WOULD HINGE ON ROLE OF PHARMACISTS in the drug distribution system, a General Accounting Office report suggests. Although GAO did not definitively conclude whether establishment of a third class of drugs (between Rx and OTC status) would be successful or beneficial, the report says that "active pharmacist involvement is necessary for an intermediate class to serve its purpose of improving drug use."
