HOUSE GOP FDA REFORM BILL UNLIKELY BEFORE END OF 1995, Commerce/oversight subcommittee Chairman Joe Barton (R-Tex.) told reporters on July 25. He said the full Commerce Committee leadership is working first on other federal health issues and is unlikely to turn to FDA reform before 1996. The committee does not expect a draft bill to be out before September. On the Senate side, the Labor & Human Resources Committee still intends to have draft reform legislation ready by mid-August, although no hearings or mark-ups are expected before September.
