BRAN USP MONOGRAPH NEEDS TO BE DEVELOPED before the ingredient can be included in the OTC laxatives final monograph, either alone or in combination, FDA told Ciba Self-Medication in a July 7 letter. "If action is taken to establish a [U.S. Pharmacopoeial] monograph for bran before publication of the laxative final monograph, bran, as well as the combination of psyllium and bran, may be included in the final monograph," FDA said.
