DIETARY SUPPLEMENT TOXICITY RESEARCH CITED AS "IMMEDIATE PRIORITY" in a report to be sent to Congress the week of June 19 by the Task Force on Aging Research. The report recommends that studies be conducted "on the composition and toxicity of dietary supplements marketed to older people." The task force suggested that FDA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute on Aging and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disorders receive a total of $8 mil. from FY 1996 to FY 2000 to implement the recommendation.
