NUTRITION LABELING EFFECTIVE DATE CLARIFICATION SOUGHT by the Council for Responsible Nutrition in a Dec. 7 letter to FDA Commissioner David Kessler. CRN noted that the effective date for nutrition labeling requirements under the Nutrition Labeling & Education Act (NLEA) is July 1995, while the new dietary supplement law, the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act (DSHEA), states that its nutrition labeling provisions should become effective by 1996.
